Festive T-shirts were created to commemorate the centenary of Lithuanian basketball. They were inspired by the uniforms of the bronze medal-winning team from the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, which the basketball players wore during the medal ceremony.

After regaining independence, the Lithuanian men’s basketball team lacked funds to travel to the Olympic Games in Spain in 1992. The legendary rock band “The Grateful Dead” came to the rescue of the Lithuanians. The Americans created and presented T-shirts with a skeleton putting a basket in it at a support concert. The funds raised helped the basketball players go to the Olympic Games and fight for medals. Despite all the prohibitions on wearing clothing and symbols not approved by the Olympic Committee, the Lithuanians walked on the podium wearing “The Grateful Dead” T-shirts. This made the legendary basketball skeleton even more popular, and the Lithuanian team became known as another dream team.
